Sisters, Oregon and the Three Sisters Wilderness

Category: Central Oregon Cascades

Location: Sisters, Oregon and the Three Sisters Wilderness

We spent two days in the Sisters, Oregon area to see the mountains. We spent the night in Sisters and saw part of their annual quilt show which has 1,200 quilts hanging all over town. The next day, we drove through Bend and over into the Three Sisters Wilderness and Mount Bachelor area. The mountains we saw on the trip included Mount Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mount Washington, Black Butte, North Sister, Middle Sister, South Sister, Broken Top and Mount Bachelor. The eastern side of the Cascades is very dry and desert-like, quite a contrast to the western side. There are lava fields everywhere and we also drove through a large burn area.
