The Salmon River Canyon Trail is the middle section of the Salmon River Trail at the base of Hunchback Mountain, which is along (you guessed it) the Salmon River. The hike starts at river level and gradually climbs up to an open canyon overlook. The river was very full with wild rushing water and there were plenty of downed trees and washed out trail sections to make the hike a little more challenging. Wildflowers were everywhere. We saw pink fairy slippers, white fawn lilies, trilliums, corydalis, chocolate lilies and tiny pink & white oxalis. Optional hikes in this area include Kinzel Lake, Devils Peak and Hunchback Mountain.
