Ramona Falls
Category: Mount Hood AreaTags: Mount Hood, waterfalls
Distance: 7 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,000 feet
Location: Mount Hood National Wilderness
A great hike with varying terrains throughout. The hike starts in the Sandy River glacial floodplain, then enters the typical western Oregon forest with moss and lichens in the understory of tall evergreens. The skies were clear with a good view of Mount Hood with plenty of snow still on the mountain. Ramona Falls is a beautiful waterfall and is the main reason for the hike. Instead of hiking the normal loop, the next time we are in this area, we’ll stay on the Ramona Creek side of the trail and do an out-and-back hike. It’s much prettier, even though it is slightly longer.
See the earlier post on this hike for another description and more photos.
