Ramona Falls
Category: Mount Hood AreaTags: Mount Hood, Ramona Falls, Sandy River, waterfalls
Location: Mount Hood National Forest
Distance: 7 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,000 ft
This hike starts near the Sandy River glacial floodplain, which is a sandy, rocky, desolate area where the landscape looks more like central Oregon. It soon changes, however, and begins to look more like typical forests in the Mount Hood area. Ramona Falls is one of the best waterfalls I’ve ever seen… it is truly spectacular in person. The trail then parallels Ramona Creek, which is a stark contrast to the Sandy River area. The creek winds through dense forest with mossy rocks and a gently sloping terrain… the land of elves and fairies. The loop continues back around to the Sandy River.
