Cape Lookout camping

Date: June 28-30
Location: Cape Lookout State Park, Oregon

We escaped a heat wave in Portland to go camping at the coast. It wasn’t planned… we had to make reservations months in advance for our favorite spot. The weather was the warmest we’ve seen at the coast… it was sunny and in the 60s-80s the entire weekend. In Portland, it was 100 degrees on Saturday. Instead of doing a hike, we just hung out and relaxed at the beach. It was great. At low tide, we walked along the beach towards Netarts Spit looking for agates. At high tide, we sat on the rocks and watched the waves come in. The clouds were rolling over the coastal mountains making for a good atmospheric effect. At sunset, everyone gathers on the beach to see the sun disappear on the horizon.
