Cape Lookout camping & beach hike

Category: Oregon Coast
Tags: , ,

Cape Lookout has become one of our regular camping spots. The weather is the one variable that can never be counted on. It can be warm and sunny all around but when you get within 5 miles, the temperature starts to drop and sometimes (frequently) the entire cape is enshrouded with heavy fog. However, it is always nice to spend time just watching the ever-changing ocean. This time, high tides were quite powerful with large crashing waves that rolled big logs like they were nothing. We hiked along the beach all the way to the end of Netarts Spit, which is 10 miles roundtrip. At the end was a large group of pelicans and foggy views of Three Arch Rocks, Oceanside and Netarts.
