Tillamook Head

Category: Oregon Coast
Tags: ,

Date: April 5, 2009
Location: Ecola State Park, Oregon coast (north of Cannon Beach)
Distance: 6 miles
Elevation Gain: about 1,000 feet

Starting at Indian Beach, this hike is part of a trail that goes all the way to Seaside. At about 1-1/2 miles, there is a camp site with three-sided log shelters. It is also the site of an old WWII bunker. We went on another 1-1/2 miles from the camp site, looking for the infamous “Clark’s View” spot. We found it, but it is overgrown and the view is not what it once was. We went past this and were almost to the Summit Viewpoint. After the hike, we had lunch in Cannon Beach and spent a little time on the beach.
